EDT Unveils EDGETAK: Revolutionary Man-Wearable Computing Solution for Tactical Edge Operations
Rugged NVIDIA Jetson Orin NX Carrier Brings Unprecedented Edge Computing Power to Special Forces
and Field Operations
Hillsboro, Oregon – April 16, 2025 – EDT today announced the launch of EDGETAK, a groundbreaking man-wearable computing solution designed for military and tactical edge applications and special operations. Powered by NVIDIA’s Jetson Orin NX platform, EDGETAK delivers powerful processing capabilities in a lightweight, passively cooled, battery-powered form factor that can be deployed directly in the field.
EDGETAK represents a significant advancement in tactical edge computing, enabling operators to process complex data and run advanced AI applications in real-time without relying on network connectivity or remote processing capabilities.
“Today’s challenges demand immediate data processing and decision-making capabilities at the tactical edge,” said Cameron Kidd, President of EDT. “EDGETAK delivers enterprise-grade computing power in a rugged, wearable package that won’t weigh down operators or compromise mobility. This is a valuable tool for operators that need to process sensor data, run AI analytics, or deploy advanced applications in austere environments.”
Purpose-Built for Tactical Deployment
EDGETAK was developed with direct input from operators to ensure the system meets the rigorous demands of field operations while maintaining a value-conscious price point.
Key features include:
- Superior Modularity: Easily integrate tactical and AI/ML applications with versatile connectivity
- Leading Return on Investment: Optimal balance between performance and component cost delivering the best value to feature profile on the marketplace
- Superior Thermal Performance: Industry leading thermal profile
- Optimal Kit Fit: Designed to fit flexibly on-body including existing radio and magazine pouches
- Open Platform: No proprietary software or licenses; the platform is open for customizing the application stack, giving operator full control and mission flexibility
Enhanced Capabilities Coming Soon
EDT also announced plans to release an enhanced version of EDGETAK this summer featuring an integrated Software Defined Radio (SDR) with a frequency range of 30MHz to 8GHz and up to 80MHz of instantaneous bandwidth. This addition will significantly expand the system’s communications and signals intelligence capabilities for specialized missions.
“The forthcoming SDR-equipped version will enable operators to conduct spectrum monitoring, signals collection, and electronic surveillance without carrying additional specialized equipment,” said Jay Soles, VP of Business Development at EDT. “This integration represents our commitment to continuously evolving the platform to meet emerging mission requirements.”
