EDT Camera Link frame grabbers feature high performance at low cost

2016/04/04: EDT’s VisionLink-series frame grabbers for Camera Link PCI Express (Gen2) provide optimal performance at economical prices.

VisionLink frame grabbers (20-85 MHz) are half-height boards with full or half-height backpanels. They support optional timecode handling and are compatible with all EDT fiber extension products for long-range operation.

– The one-lane VisionLink F1 supports base mode (up to 400MB/s).

– The four-lane VisionLink F4 supports base through extended full mode (up to 850MB/s).

Common API and full SDK are included for Windows and Linux. Engineer-to-engineer support is available.

EDT also provides Camera Link frame grabbers for PCI, PMC, and cPCI.

Version 5.5.1.6 and 5.5.1.7 software released for EDT board level products

2016/02/22: Versions 5.5.1.6 and 5.5.1.7 software/driver packages for EDT imaging, telemetry and telecom boards have been released.

Changes in PCD (telemetry/telecom) packages include updated FPGA configuration files for PCIe8 G3 A5 and PCIe8 G3 S5 high-speed communication interface boards.

Changes in PDV (Vision / digital imaging) packages include a recommended FPGA configuration file update for VisionLink boards, to accomodate non-aligned DVAL signals, intermittent serial hang problems, board shutter timer off-by-one problem. Additionally, all versions include incremental improvements to pciload and other utilities — see the changelogs for details.

In addition to the above, version 5.5.1.7 Windows packages include changes necessary to fix a digital signature issue that was causing Windows to block version 5.5.1.6 package and driver downloads. The digital signature was not compromised, but a change to the Windows signature check (now requires SHA256 encryption) was causing issues with 5.5.1.6 downloads for some customers.

Version 5.5.1.6 Linux packages are not subject to Windows digital signatures, therefore there is no 5.5.1.7 update for Linux versions of the packages.

EDT to exhibit at SPIE events in 2016

2015/10/16: As we approach the close of the International Year of Light 2015, a global United Nations initiative sponsored by SPIE and four other founding sponsors, EDT already is making plans to exhibit at two SPIE events in early 2016…

– 2016 Feb. 16-18:  Table 6049 – SPIE Photonics West (PW)  in San Francisco; and
– 2016 Apr. 19-21:  Booth 426 – SPIE Defense & Commercial Sensing (DCS), formerly known as SPIE Defense, Security & Sensing (DSS).

At both events, we will be showing our VisionLink-series framegrabbers and extenders. If you plan to attend either of these events, stop by and see us!

Version 5.4.9.6 drivers support latest Linux & Windows releases

2015/07/03: Version 5.4.9.6 packages for EDT PDV (imaging) and PCD (telemetry, telecom and general purpose I/O) have been released.

The most significant change for this release is support for the latest Linux distributions that use kernel version 3.18.9. New firmware for EDT VisionLink framegrabber boards is also included. This is a recommended update for the VisionLink F1 and F4 boards — see the changelog for details. If you wish to update your boards’ firmware without updating to the 5.4.9.6 package, you can do so as well — see this post for details.

Additionally, as of this release we have confirmed Windows 10 driver compatibility. This means that EDT PDV and PCD driver versions 5.4.3.7 through the most recent are compatible with Windows 7, 8 and 10, along with limited legacy support for Windows XP and Vista.
